Clinical Interests

Parenting skills/Parent-Child Relationships, Family Of Origin Issues & Topics Family Life Cycle (transitions), Child & Individual Human Development, Cognitive-Behavioral components of personality development such as evaluating Cognitive Schemas, Self-Preservation efforts (functional defense mechanisms formed earlier in life, having become less functional with time. Often people feel “stuck,” or repeating similar circumstances, situations, and undesired results), and other Cognitive/Behavioral based elements (e.g., Learned responses, Coping Styles, Automatic thoughts, Covert/overt “unwritten” Family Rules/beliefs). Kristy also finds it can be helpful and often client’s find interest in exploring cognitive schemas, patterns on which they operate unconsciously and can be linked to the present day challenges.

Clinical Approach

I enjoy the opportunity to work with clients of all ages and backgrounds. Therapy is a collaborative process that begins with a trained Mental Health Clinician and You!

Eclectic therapy is an approach that draws on multiple theoretical orientations and techniques. It is a flexible and multifaceted approach to therapy that allows the therapist to use the most effective methods available to address each individual client’s needs

I’m trained from the foundations of Carl Roger’s Person-Centered, Murray Bowen’s Family Systems, therapeutic dynamic, in which participant’s utilize 30 – 50 minutes of time and effort to address, define, rephrase, and introspectively expand one’s perceived limitations with compassionate, empirically researched and evidence-based Person-Centered Therapy.

Focus of Treatment throughout the therapeutic journey will depend on the Client and the committed effort given. Goals and objectives may be modified as needed and necessary though delving into one’s past is not a requirement.

Exploring sources and experiences that may be influencing or perpetuating chronic and recurring issues. Respectfully working alongside a client within their comfort level and speed. The past can often lead those who reflect non-judgmentally to profound realizations and reshaped perceptions.

Passionate to empower individuals and families to create healthy changes and navigate effectively manage/cope with difficult symptoms often brought on by external influences and stress, unexpected changes, undesired circumstances, transitional phases of life, etc. Often it can help clients to understand their condition better.
